Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Stats After Dark (statsafterdark.com) is a fan-voted college football Top 25 poll.

2. What we collect

  • From X when you sign in: your X user ID, @handle, display name, and profile picture. We don't get your X password, email, DMs, followers, or posts, and we don't post to X on your behalf.
  • What you create: your weekly ballots, including every version you publish; private drafts; and group memberships and join requests.
  • Usage data: pages viewed and actions taken, such as submitting a ballot, opening a team, or sharing; device and browser type; approximate location, such as country or region; and the referring site.

3. What's public

  • Published ballots are public, with your @handle, name, and avatar. This includes the original version and later edits, because showing ballot history is part of how the poll works.
  • Group memberships may be visible on group pages.
  • Drafts are private and never count in any poll.

4. Analytics and session recordings

  • Google Analytics 4 via Google Tag Manager: cookies and similar technologies measure traffic and feature usage. A pseudonymous internal account ID is attached to signed-in activity. We never send your handle, name, or email to Google.
  • Microsoft Clarity: records how visitors interact with pages, including clicks, taps, scrolling, and page changes, as session replays and heatmaps to improve the site. Text you type is masked.
  • Opting out: use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, block or clear cookies in your browser, or use privacy-focused browser settings. Read Google's Privacy Policy and Microsoft's Privacy Statement.

5. How we use information

  • To run the poll: accounts, ballots, groups, and rankings.
  • To show your ballot and share cards.
  • To prevent abuse and fake ballots.
  • To understand and improve the site.
  • If we add a newsletter later, we'll only email people who opt in, and every email will have an unsubscribe link.

6. We don't sell your data

We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't use it for third-party advertising.

7. Service providers

  • Hosting and database: Lovable / Supabase.
  • Sign-in: X (Twitter).
  • Analytics: Google.
  • Session recordings: Microsoft.

Team schedules and records come from CollegeFootballData.com and ESPN. That's sports data, not personal data.

8. Retention and deletion

  • We keep your account and ballots while your account exists.
  • You can ask us to delete your account by emailing statsafterdark@gmail.com. We'll remove your profile and drafts, and remove your identity from your published ballots, so they're either deleted or kept only as anonymous votes in historical poll totals.
  • Analytics data is kept according to Google's and Microsoft's retention settings.

9. Your choices and rights

  • You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data by emailing statsafterdark@gmail.com.
  • Residents of places like California and the EU/UK may have additional rights. We'll honor those requests.
  • You can revoke the site's access to your X account at any time in X's settings: Settings → Security and account access → Apps and sessions → Connected apps.

10. Children

The site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

11. Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date on this page.

12. Contact

This policy describes our practices; it isn't legal advice.
